A day after the head of Sardar Patel Group (SPG), Lalji Patel, resigned after being booed at an event in Mehsana, Sardar Patel Seva Dal youths in Vadodara have threatened a mass self-immolation to urge Patel to reconsider his decision.
Addressing reporters in Vadodara Monday, five Patel youths — Jigar Patel, Bhavik Patel, Divyesh Patel, Roshan Patel and Gaurav Patel — said they were “deeply hurt” by the insult meted out to Lalji Patel, who was not allowed on the stage of a Patidar women’s sammelan in Mehsana on Sunday, after which he resigned as the head of the SPG.
Sedition: Hardik bail plea adjourned
A sessions court in Surat Monday adjourned the hearing on the bail plea of PAAS convenor Hardik Patel in the sedition case to March 3 after prosecution lawyers submitted an application to the court that the investigating officer was out of town. In Ahmedabad, the hearing was adjourned till March 4 in another sedition case.
Reacting to the “resignation” of SPG leader Lalji Patel, Hardik said, “This is the saddest incident”.
