‘Indian companies should make Indonesia their destination’

Indonesian ambassador to India,Andi M Ghalib,who attended the two-day Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2009,invited Indian industrialists to invest in Indonesia.

Indonesian ambassador to India,Andi M Ghalib,who attended the two-day Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit 2009,invited Indian industrialists to invest in Indonesia.

Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday,Ghalib said he wanted Indian companies to make Indonesia their new destination for investment.

Urging Indian companies to invest in IT, infrastructure,automotives,mining and banking sectors,he said that companies such as Bajaj,Essar and Birlas from India set up their businesses in Indonesia in the 1970s.

Recently Tata,TVS,Minda,Bajaj and many others also established their operations in the island nation.

The Mittals and Jindals were also planning to enter into steel production in Indonesia.

The Ambanis of Reliance Industries,according to him,were planning to enter into Coal Mining in Indonesia. National Aluminium Cooperation (NALCO) of India was also planning to set up an aluminium smeltering plant in the country,he said.

He added that the Indonesian government had relaxed visa rules for Indian tourists and businessmen and introduced visa-on-arrival facility up to one month visit.
