Gujarat weather today: Rain and thundershowers likely across state, IMD issues orange alert

The IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain in several Gujarat districts, including Saurashtra and Kutch, due to a depression over the Arabian Sea. Widespread rainfall is expected across the state over the next 36 hours.

A large portion of Gujarat is likely to see widespread rainfall as a result of the depression over the Arabian Sea. Light to Moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at most places in all the districts of North Gujarat, said the Regional Meteorological Centre in Ahmedabad.

The India meteorological Centre (IMD) said the depression over east central Arabian Sea has moved westwards on Thursday, October 30. It is likely to move further across east central Arabian Sea over the next 36 hours.

As per the regional forecast, “Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely in all the districts of Gujarat, Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Diu.”

The IMD has forecast rain on Friday, too. “Light to Moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at many places in all the districts of North Gujarat region namely Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar; at many places in all the districts of South Gujarat region, namely Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad and in Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli; at many places in all the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and in Diu.

An orange alert has been issued on Thursday for heavy to very heavy rains in Saurashtra-Kutch districts — Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir, Somnath and in Diu. On Friday an orange alert will remain in place in Porbandar, Junagadh, and Dwarka.
