Forensic varsity inks deal with Israeli firm

The Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU) will soon introduce a programme to train forensic experts, senior police officers and research students in the ultramodern Suspect Detection System (SDS) developed by an Israeli company.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was inked between Eran Drukman, president of the SDS Company Limited, and GFSU Registrar Mehul Dave in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

Dave said: “We propose to prepare a special curriculum on SDS for research students in our university. This technology is more relevant and useful these days especially when the world is facing the problem of growing terrorism. Under the SDS,the records of suspect persons can be preserved on a permanent basis.” He told The Indian Express that besides providing other logistics, the semi-government Israeli company will install an SDS device at the state Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar. This will enable experts and senior police officers to study the system and detect suspects promptly. Under the MoU,SDS has recognised GFSU as a ‘centre of excellence’.
