Born March 7, 1949, Ghulam Nabi Azad is a prominent Indian politician whose career spans decades. His political journey began with a successful leadership role in the 2002 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. From 2005 to 2008, he served as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He also held significant positions at the national level, including Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in the Manmohan Singh government.
Between 2014 and 2021, Azad served as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, showcasing his stature within the Indian political landscape. In 2022, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Public Affairs. However, the same year marked a significant shift in his career.
