Kashmir Elections- People Complain Of Not Being Allowed To Vote

Kashmiris living in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Thursday alleged that they were not allowed to vote in the polling for the 10th general elections of the 41-seat assembly. They further alleged that the election officers on one pretext or another stooped them from going inside booths to cast their vote. A voter said the arrangement and security were good, but there was no point of having such safety measures if they were denied to cast their vote. Another voter said laws should be equal as some people were allowed to cast their vote, while others remained standing outside booths for hours. The polling started at 8:00am and continued till 5:00pm without any break. Following the death of slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani July 8, Kashmir Valley has been witnessing immense violence and protests. The death toll climbed to 42  and several people sustained injuries after clashing with security forces in the state.
