US Envoy Nominee Highlights Trump Critical Of India, Not Modi, Warns Against China & Russian Oil

At his Senate confirmation hearing, Sergio Gor, President Trump’s pick as the next US Ambassador to India, called India a vital strategic partner whose trajectory will shape the region. He pledged to make India align closer with Washington and away from Beijing, pressed New Delhi to stop Russian oil imports, and underlined Trump’s ‘unique friendship’ with PM Modi as the cornerstone of future US-India cooperation. He also added that though President Trump is critical of India, he has always ‘gone out of the way’ to appreciate PM Modi.
