Pakistan Flood 2025: Over 850 Dead, 2 Million Affected As “Historic Floods” Ravage Pakistan
Pakistan Flood 2025: Pakistan is facing one of its deadliest monsoon seasons in recent history, with more than 850 people killed and over 2 million affected by unprecedented floods across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 15 people have died in the last 24 hours alone, as torrential rains continue to lash large parts of the country. Punjab has seen extensive destruction, with embankments on the Sutlej River breaking under the pressure of flood torrents. Vast areas of farmland in Lahore, Hafizabad, Multan, and Chiniot districts are underwater, destroying crops, drowning livestock, and forcing thousands of families from their homes. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded the highest death toll this monsoon season, with 484 lives lost since late June, while Punjab has reported 209 deaths. The overall toll includes 130 children and 227 women. More than 1,100 people have been injured in flood-related incidents. As the humanitarian crisis deepens, disaster management teams continue round-the-clock relief operations, while experts warn that climate change is making monsoon floods in South Asia more intense and frequent.
