Tejaswi Yadav (Grand alliance) won from the Raghopur constituency. He is the youngest son of Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi. He contested the assembly elections for the first time from Raghopur constituency in Vaishali district.
Tej Pratap (Grand alliance) won from Mahua constituency. He is the elder son of former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Considered less articulate than his younger brother Tejaswi Yadav, he is said to be the favourite of his mother, Rabri Devi, who has also been chief minister of Bihar.
Jitan Ram Manjhi (Hindustani Awam Morcha) won from Imamganj constituency but lost from Makhdumpur constituency. He is a senior state politician who has been in the Congress, RJD and JD-U. He floated a new party Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), after being asked by the JD-U leadership to step down as chief minister — a post he held briefly.
Pashupati Kumar Paras (LJP) lost from Alauli constituency. He is Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan’s brother. He has also been the party’s Bihar state president for a long time.
Abdul Bari Siddiqui - in Green Kurta (RJD) won from Alinagar constituency. He is a senior RJD leader. He is the party’s most prominent Muslim face and has always been loyal to Lalu Prasad Yadav. He was once considered a possible chief ministerial candidate.
Nand Kishore Yadav (BJP) won from Patna Sahib constituency. He is a senior state BJP leader. He has been elected MLA several times from the Patna Sahib Assembly constituency. As the BJP’s Yadav face, he is a strong contender for the post of chief minister, if the NDA comes to power.
Faraz Fatmi won Keoti constituency (Darbhanga). He is a RJD candidate. He is the son of former MP M A Fatmi. Faraz is contesting from Keoti, where he lost by 29 votes in 2010.
Ramai Ram lost from Bochaha (SC) constituency (Muzaffarpur). He is from JD(U) party. Eight-time MLA and a prominent Dalit leader, Ram was a minister for a long time in the RJD-led government.
Abdul Rehman, 38, is one of the only two Muslim candidates fielded by the BJP, and the only one in Seemanchal. Rehman contesting from Kocha Dhaman lost to Mujahid Alam of the Maha Gathbandhan.
Pradeep Joshi lost to Md Iliyas Hussian of RJD. He is more saffron than anybody around — even local BJP leaders accuse him of communal politics.
Independent candidate Anant Kumar Singh won from Mokama constituency to JD(U)'s Neeraj Kumar. In June, Singh was arrested in connection with a kidnapping and murder case.
Congress' Anil Kumar won from Bhorey (SC) (Gopalganj). Kumar, 47, twice MLA as well as Rajya Sabha member, is effectively a JD(U) candidate in Congress colours.
BJP's Manoj Kumar Singh, from Raghunathpur (Siwan), lost to RJD's Harishankar Yadav. He has been accused by a BJP colleague of having bought his ticket to the constituency for Rs 2 crore. Singh was identified as RJD leader Mohammad Shahabuddin’s muscle man in Siwan region, which was once notorious for crime.
