What about promises of 2014? GPCC chief Gohil questions BJP manifesto

Further questioning BJP’s earlier promises of farmer policies and a special task force on black money, the party stated these were all jumlas.

Echoing the views of the Congress leadership, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee President Shaktisinh Gohil Sunday said the BJP manifesto is not a ghoshna patra but a jumla patra. “Instead of giving an account of the work done since 2014, today BJP came out with new slogans and promises in its manifesto. Employment generation of 2 crore every year means 20 crore jobs but, on the other hand, 13.7 crore jobs were taken away,” Gohil stated.

He also questioned the manner in which the manifesto was released Sunday. “For one hour and 40 minutes, the press conference on the manifesto was held. After which not even a single journalist was allowed to ask a question. Is this democracy? Nobody is allowed to ask a question. It is not a ghoshna patra but a jumla patra,” he said.

“In its 2014 manifesto, the BJP announced 100 new smart cities. Where are these cities? Instead China entered our borders and built houses and bridges on the Indian soil. Against the promise of employment in its previous manifesto, people have been gifted with unemployment, instead of freedom from inflation the inflation is touching the sky and in place of safety for women, our daughters and sisters are insecure and unsafe,” Gohil added.

Further questioning BJP’s earlier promises of farmer policies and a special task force on black money, the party stated these were all jumlas. “The BJP’s anti-farmer policies, which promised to double farmers’ incomes, have rather reduced it to half and doubled their expenditure,” he added.

Further, on the economy, he stated, “In 2014, the BJP manifesto promised the strengthening of the rupee. In fact, the rupee weakened to 83.61 against, the lowest in history”.
