Karnal Election Results 2024: Former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar secured a significant victory from the Karnal Lok Sabha seat, solidifying the BJP’s stronghold in the region. He defeated Congress candidate Divyanshu Budhiraja by a substantial margin of 2,32,577 votes, as per the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The Karnal Lok Sabha Constituency in Haryana is a significant political seat, encompassing the entire Karnal and Panipat districts. Over the years, the constituency has seen representatives from various political parties, including the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The 2024 Lok Sabha constituency election was successfully conducted in Phase 6 on May 25, with a voter turnout of 60.69 per cent. The election witnessed a political feud between two-time MLA and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and former President of the Haryana Youth Congress, Divyanshu Budhiraja.

For Khattar, this would be the first Lok Sabha poll that he will be contesting, which he is likely to win, as per the India Today-Axis My India exit polls, with about 6–8 of the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana.

The BJP has maintained a stronghold on the seat since the last two elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Karnal Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a voter turnout of 68.31 per cent, with the BJP’s then-nominee Sanjay Bhatia winning by a whopping margin of over 6 lakh votes. The BJP’s Ashwini Kumar had won in 2014.
