Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir Exit Polls 2024: As anticipation builds for the poll results for Assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, all eyes will be on the exit polls ahead of the declaration of results on October 8.
In Haryana, polling began early on Sunday for all 90 Assembly seats. The state is seeing a tight bilateral contest with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress up against each other. In 2014, the BJP ended the Congress’s decade-long rule under former CM Bhupinder Hooda, riding the “Modi wave” after the Lok Sabha polls. The saffron party secured 33.3% of the vote (47 seats) and formed the government in Haryana with CM Manohar Lal Khattar. However, in the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP fell short of a majority, winning 40 seats despite increasing its vote share to 36.5%. The JJP, which split from the INLD in 2018, made its debut with 10 seats and allied with the BJP to form a coalition government.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir voted in three phases – September 18, September 25, and October 1 – where the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are prominent players, each commanding substantial support. The BJP and Congress also vie for influence. With key issues such as statehood, security, and economic development at stake, these elections will be crucial in determining the region’s political direction and governance post-abrogation of Article 370.

After the conclusion of voting today, news channels will reveal their exit poll projections starting 6:30-7 pm.
As per the Election Commission, the exit poll predictions for Haryana are likely to be announced on Saturday at 6:30 pm after the ongoing voting in the state for 90 seats come to an end.
