X to close operations in Brazil due to ‘censorship orders’

However, X confirmed that its service would remain accessible to users in Brazil.

Social media platform X announced on Saturday that it will cease its operations in Brazil “effective immediately,” citing “censorship orders” from Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes.

In a statement, the platform’s Global Government Affairs team said that Moraes had secretly threatened to arrest one of its legal representatives in Brazil if the company failed to comply with orders to remove certain content from its platform.


As per news agency Reuters, the Supreme Court of Brazil has not yet responded to a request for comment.

However, X confirmed that its service would remain accessible to users in Brazil.
