US military launches fresh strike on Houthi controlled Yemen’s Hodeidah airport

Iran-backed rebels’ TV channels also reported similar accusations against the Americans as the US Central Command confirmed "continuous operations" against the Houthi rebels.

Reports from Yemen based Houthi militant group’s media wing accused the United States of carrying out strikes on Hodeidah International Airport as Washington announced heavy strikes against the rebel group last week, news agency AFP reported.

Three strikes were reported by Al-Masirah TV on the airport in Hodeida on the Red Sea coast, as the local media termed it as “American aggression”. However, no reports of any casualty or damage emerged.

The Hodeidah airport had been shut for civilian flights since 2014 when the Houthi group took control over several northern cities, news agency Xinhua reported.

Iran-backed rebels’ television channels also reported similar accusations against the Americans as the US Central Command confirmed “continuous operations” against the Houthi rebels in Yemen on Wednesday and US President Donald Trump warning that Houthis will be “annihilated”.

The United States announced it had launched a wave of airstrikes against Houthi rebels on March 15, and officials said that it had killed senior Houthi leaders, while Yemen’s rebel group claimed the surprise strike by Washington killed 53 people.

Earlier on Friday, the Houthis said that they had launched an airstrike on Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, an assault the Israeli military said was intercepted late on Friday, Xinhua reported.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday posted on X that it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it entered the territory of Tel Aviv. However, the missile triggered sirens in the Israeli capital which sent millions into shelter.

As per reports, the landing and take off were paused at the Ben Gurion International Airport.
