US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday announced a series of moves that will limit who is eligible for COVID vaccines.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued marketing authorisation for COVID-19 vaccines for those at higher risk, while ending emergency use authorisations.

In a post on X, Kennedy said, “I promised 4 things: to end covid vaccine mandates, to keep vaccines available to people who want them, especially the vulnerable, to demand placebo-controlled trials from companies, and to end the emergency. In a series of FDA actions today we accomplished all four goals.”

He added that the FDA has now authorised vaccines for specific age groups: Moderna (6+ months), Pfizer (5+), and Novavax (12+). “These vaccines are available for all patients who choose them after consulting with their doctors,” Kennedy stated.
