90-foot tall bronze statue of Lord Hanuman becomes new landmark in Texas

Located at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, about 35 kilometers from Houston, this Hanuman statue is the tallest outside of India and the tallest in Texas.

The statue was officially revealed during a special ceremony held from August 15 to 18, which also coincided with India’s Independence Day.

Organizers described the statue as a symbol of “selflessness, devotion, and unity,” reflecting Hanuman’s pivotal role in reuniting Lord Ram and Sita.

The project was the vision of His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, a Padma Bhushan awardee and renowned Vedic scholar, who aimed to create a spiritual epicenter for North America.

The unveiling ceremony was grand, featuring rituals like a helicopter showering flowers on the statue, the sprinkling of sacred water, and a 72-foot-long garland being placed around Lord Hanuman’s neck.

Thousands of devotees attended, chanting the names of Shri Ram and Hanuman, making it a powerful and spiritual event.

The Statue of Union not only stands as a testament to Lord Hanuman’s indomitable spirit but also marks a new milestone in America’s cultural and spiritual landscape.

The organizers added that it embodies the principles of devotion, strength, and unity for everyone who comes to witness its grandeur.
