Iran’s Khamenei says talks with US would be a ‘dead-end’

He repeated Iran’s official position that the country does not need nuclear weapons and has no plan to produce them.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that negotiations with the United States would not serve Tehran’s interests.

In a recorded message, Khamenei said talks with Washington “would prove a dead-end” and stressed that Iran would not “surrender to pressure” over its uranium enrichment programme, Reuters reported.

He repeated Iran’s official position that the country does not need nuclear weapons and has no plan to produce them.
