US President Donald Trump has hit out at the Democratic Party over the Epstein Files controversy, questioning why they failed to act against the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender when he was alive.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said Democrats befriended and socialised with Epstein and knew everything about him.
“The confused and badly failing Democrat Party did nothing about Jeffrey Epstein while he was alive except befriend him, socialize with him, travel to his Island, and take his money! They knew everything there was to know about Epstein, but now, years after his death, they, out of nowhere, are seeming to show such love and heartfelt concern for his victims,” Trump said.
Trump alleged that Democrats did not care about Epstein victims and repeated his claim that the Epstein Files controversy was a Democrat hoax.
“The Dems don’t care about the victims, as proven by the fact that they never did before. This is merely another Democrat HOAX, just like Russia, Russia, Russia, and all of the others, in order to deflect and distract from the great success of a Republican President, and the record-setting failure of the previous Administration, and the Democrat Party,” Trump said.
The US President went on to say that the Epstein case is dying down after the DOJ released thousands of pages of documents recently.
“The Department of Justice has done its job; they have given everything requested of them. It’s time to end the Democrat Epstein Hoax,” he said.
Trump’s social media rant comes at a time when Epstein victims, along with some Republican and Democratic lawmakers, are stepping up pressure on the administration, demanding transparency in the case.
Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, along with Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna of California, is pushing a bipartisan bill to compel the release of the entire file. Massie is also attempting to use a discharge petition to force a floor vote on the legislation, requiring 218 signatures to succeed.
Epstein survivors have also warned they may move to compile their own list of alleged abusers if the government fails to make the information public.
“It will be done by survivors and for survivors,” Lisa Phillips says. “No one else is involved,” said Epstein survivor Lisa Phillips.
