Democrats on the House Oversight Committee in Congress have released the birthday note allegedly signed and sent by US President Donald Trump to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on his 50th birthday in 2003. However, the White House has denied that the president signed the note.

Lawyers for Epstein estate were subpoenaed in August by the House Oversight Committee and they sent the documents which included a letter as part of a 50th birthday album compiled in 2003 for Epstein, a wealthy and well-connected financier who was once a friend of Trump’s. The committee released a copy of the entire album on Monday night.

Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee posted a copy of the alleged letter sent by Trump to Epstein on X, which features a sketch of a woman’s body. The White House clarified, “President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it.”

When the Wall Street Journal, in July, published details of the alleged note, Trump had said it was “a fake thing” and denied writing it. “These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures,” Trump said as he initiated legal action against the newspaper.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, defending the president after Democrats released the note on Monday, said “President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation. As I have said all along, it’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it.”

While releasing a copy of the letter on X, the Democrats on the Oversight Committee wrote, “Trump talks about a ‘wonderful secret’ the two of them shared. What is he hiding? Release the files!”

The release of the drawing comes as President Trump has faced mounting pressure for months to disclose more files in the case of Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell.

Jeffrey Epstein allegedly killed himself in Manhattan prison while awaiting trial in 2019 on charges that said he sexually abused and trafficked underage girls.
