Kerala Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Kerala, also known as “God’s own Country,” which had the highest voter’s turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, with a total of over 80 per cent, saw a drastic dip in those number during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Kerala Lok Sabha elections for all their 20 seats were concluded in phase 2 on Friday, April 26, 2024, with the total voter turnout being only 71.27 per cent. This is notably one of the lowest number of voter turnout Kerela has produce in last few Lok Sabha elections. The results of all 20 seats will be revealed on Tuesday, June 4.
Kerala, will once again be on the priority list of INC, as their face for Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi is also MP, from the Wayanad constituency of the state. However, NDA will try to change their positioning in the state in order to establish their complete dominance in the 2024 General Elections. Notably, Kerala has the highest voter’s turnout in comparison to any other state, making the need of establishing proper connection with the people of the state even more important.
As per the announcement made by the ECI (Election Commission of India), the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections for all the 20 seats in “God’s own Country,” was scheduled to take place on April 26.
Phase 2: Date of polling- April 26
Kerala, with its organised voters and voting system, typically completes the polling on all the constituencies in a single phase. Following the trend, the ECI has once again opted to hold the 2024 General Elections in the state in one single phase, i.e., phase two.
Kerala, holds the 12th rank in the states with the most number of Lok Sabha seats with 20, out of which 18 are unreserved seats, while two seats are reserved for SC candidates. During the 17th Lok Sabha Elections, INC-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) came out on top by winning 19 of the 20 seats, making it the most successful state for the alliance.
INC, after a dominant show of strength in the last elections, will be looking to continue their momentum and keep the ruling government alliance out of the state pictures with the help of their newly formed I.N.D.I.A alliance, while on the other hand, NDA will be looking to break their poor streak in the state and get some of the important seats in their favour this time around.
