There is no dearth of strange reasons why people and animals are married off in India – and this is not even to the same species at times. So, many would find it completely in tune with their religious and social beliefs when they see these two frogs being tied in the holy bond of matrimony, not so that they can have lifelong companionship and love, but mainly because the residents of Jorhat, Assam, believe the sacred ritual would appease the rain gods, causing them to take pity on the region and rain.
