Recovering a bag lost on a train can be incredibly challenging due to the high influx of passengers. However, thanks to the intervention of a coach attendant and the manager of a Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express train, a passenger was able to get back his bag containing a MacBook and important documents.
As reported by the news agency PTI, the incident occurred when the passenger initially boarded the wrong train on Sunday. On realising his mistake, the passenger hurriedly exited the train to catch the one he had booked, and inadvertently left his bag behind. A coach attendant spotted the unclaimed bag and promptly informed train manager R D Meena, who then made several announcements on the train.
“When he got no response, Meena informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Ambala and Ferozpur, so that if anyone makes a complaint through the grievance redressal mechanism, he can get a favourable response,” Paramdip Singh Saini, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Ferozpur Division told PTI.
The passenger, meanwhile, called the railway helpline 139 to register a complaint. “His grievance was escalated to the RPF personnel along the train route, and finally officials at Ambala confirmed that the bag belonged to him,” Saini added.
According to officials, the Railways arranged for the bag to be delivered to the passenger, who expressed his gratitude to the entire team, PTI reported.
