A police officer found himself on the wrong side of railway rules when a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) caught him travelling in an air-conditioned coach without a ticket. A video of the incident has since gone viral, with many praising the TTE for enforcing regulations without bias.

The clip shared on Reddit’s r/IndianRailways community under the title “TTE confronts a cop for travelling without a ticket in the AC coach,” shows the TTE questioning the policeman in uniform for occupying a seat without a valid ticket.

In the footage, the TTE can be heard calling out the cop for not even having a general ticket, let alone one for the AC coach. “TTE puchta nahi hai ticket wardi walo se? General ka ticket nahi hai, AC mein aakr let rahe ho (You think TTE won’t check tickets of those in uniform? You don’t have a general ticket too, and you have come to AC coach,)” the TTE can be heard saying in the video.

He then goes on to reprimand the officer for assuming that empty seats automatically belong to those in uniform. “Ghar ka raaj chal raha hai kahin bhi jao, kuch bhi karo. Jo khali hai woh vardiwaalo ka seat hai kya (Is this your house to rule? You think you can go anywhere and do anything? Do empty seats belong to those in uniform?” the TTE questions, before firmly instructing him to leave. As the officer hurriedly gathers his belongings and exits, the TTE says, “Khade ho yahan se, nikalo. General mein dikhai dena sleeper mein nahi (Get up from here and leave. You should be seen in the general compartment, not in the sleeper coach.)”

Responding to the video, one Redditor wrote, “TTE showed who is the boss in coaches.” Another user commented, “He’s probably experienced this before many times.”

A third user commented, “Railways need system like Airports, only people with valid reserved tickets should be allowed to board and allowed at the stations. Separate platforms for trains which are local trains/ memu/ EMU. Separate platforms fromwhere long distance trains will move. IMO trains should not have general compartment. it is should be replaced with sitting class where you have to buy a reserved ticket.”

Indian Railways never fails to grab attention online. Recently, a video showing a tea vendor using the jet spray from a train’s toilet to clean his container surfaced. The clip sparked massive outrage on social media, with people demanding strict action and an investigation into the matter.
