There is no denying the fact that times are a changing, at least in urban India, and people are opening their minds to inter-caste, inter-religion, age-no-bar marriages. But there is still a long way to go before there is a more widespread change. In fact, a even a cursory look at popular matrimonial websites — which is a reflection of widespread social behaviour — shows the importance of ‘labels’ such as caste, sub-caste, religious preferences, etc.

In an attempt to change the way Indian society thinks, a New Age matrimonial app called Truejodi has started a social media campaign #SochBadlo wherein they asked a couple of 20-somethings in Bengaluru what irks them the most in the current matrimonial scenario. Unsurprisingly, they had a lot to say.

“This is our launch campaign and we wanted to bring out the issues with marriage these days. You see scores of matrimonial sites with traditional approach pestering you with different types of questions in terms of a marital alliance. We wanted to target young broad-minded generation who believe that caste, religion or age cannot and must not be a barrier in tying the knot,” said Ravi Mittal, founder of Truejodi.

“It’s a social media campaign to change the way matrimonial websites work in the country. And going by the shares and likes, the response has been brilliant,” he added.
