India’s Asia Cup Super Four clash with Bangladesh wasn’t just about cricket on the field; the off-field banter stole the limelight too. Broadcaster Sanjana Ganesan, also pace ace Jasprit Bumrah’ wife, went viral after a light-hearted exchange with actors Bobby Deol and Raghav Juyal, who were at the ground promoting their new Netflix show The Ba**s of Bollywood.
During a fun segment, Juyal, whose character Parvaiz in Aryan Khan’s series delivers the line “aakha bollywood ek taraf, aur Emraan Hashmi ek taraf” (The whole of Bollywood on one side, Emraan Hashmi on the other), playfully tweaked it for Ganesan. Urging her to follow suit, he said, “Aakhi duniya ek taraf, mera Bumrah ek taraf” (The whole world on one side, my Bumrah on another), Ganesan repeated it on camera, sparking laughter among the broadcasters and setting social media abuzz.
Deol later said the electric atmosphere at the stadium made him feel “childlike” again and singled out Bumrah’s “top-class spell” as a highlight. Juyal, too, praised the Indian fast bowler, calling himself a big admirer before delivering the now-viral line.
Clips of the moment quickly spread online, with fans hailing Ganesan’s sporting attitude. “I want to hear the commentator’s reaction after that,” one user wrote.
Another user tweaked the dialogue a bit more, wrote, “Sirf sanjana ka nahi hai hamara bhi hai. ‘Akkhai dunia ek taraf hamara Bumrah ek taraf’.” (Bumrah is not just Sanjana’s, he’s ours too. The whole world on one side and our Bumrah on the other).
While the off-field camaraderie drew plenty of attention, India ensured the cricket stayed centre stage. Abhishek Sharma’s blistering 75 laid the foundation, and Kuldeep Yadav with Varun Chakravarthy sealed the deal with the ball as Bangladesh were bundled out for 127 in 19.3 overs. India, defending 168/6, wrapped up a 41-run win to book their spot in the Asia Cup final, and capped off an evening that blended high-stakes cricket with a dose of celebrity fun.
