Aside from its religious and spiritual importance, the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 has also been generating buzz online due to several amusing incidents. One such event went viral after a group of sadhus were seen thrashing YouTubers for asking what they deemed “pointless” questions. Another video shows a man stealing a reporter’s microphone during the mela’s live coverage and running off into the crowd.
In the viral clip, the reporter is seen interviewing a devotee from Rajasthan about the government’s arrangements for the event when a man comes uncomfortably close. After telling him to step back, the reporter is caught off guard when the man grabs the microphone and runs away, causing a stir on social media.
As the video progresses, the reporter and onlookers chase the man. Sharing the video, an X handle @gharkekalesh wrote, “Man Snatches Reporter’s Mic During Live Interview at Maha Kumbh.”

With over 7,02,000 views, several social media users reacted to it. Many called it “staged” and “scripted.” “Bro got tired of waiting for his turn to speak,” a user wrote. “This is scripted. They are making reels and not reporting,” another user commented. “This is too much. How he escaped,” a third user reacted.
“These are not reporters and they are all pre-planned,” the fourth user commented.
The internet quickly tracked down the Instagram handle of the man accused of stealing the reporter’s mic. It turns out, the man himself shared the video, calling it a “prank.” In another clip, he was seen returning the mic to the reporter and explaining, “You were asking everyone questions so seriously. Your mind must be stressed. I took the mic as a joke, just to refresh your mind.”
