Watch content creator Effin M, who Lulu Group chief M A Yusuf Ali gifted a Rado watch to, has shared a new Instagram reel sharing the story behind his meeting with the billionaire businessman.
In the reel, Effin said he wondered what he could possibly gift Ali since he’s a billionaire and can buy pretty much anything that has a price tag. Effin also said that he only requested Ali’s team for a meeting and nothing else, and that while social media users and publications discussed the price of the watch Ali presented him with, he considers it “priceless” since there is a “story” behind the watch, and since the billionaire himself made him wear the customised watch.

In July 2024, Effin, whose Instagram page chronograph_2022 has over 544K followers, and YouTube channel Chronograph by Effin M has over 359K subscribers, decided to give his wish of meeting Lulu Group chief a shot. In an interview, Ali had spoken about how much he loves his mother, and keeping this in mind, Effin readied a thoughtful gift for the billionaire – a watch with an image of Ali’s mother.
A few days ago, Ali, during one of his Kerala visits, surprised Effin. He not only took out time to meet Effin, fulfilling his wish, but also gifted a Rado watch worth Rs 2 lakh to the fan. The watch content creator, then, shared an endearing Instagram reel showing his meeting with Ali.
“Surprise from Yusuff Ali, sir,” Effin captioned the reel. In the video, Ali can be seen introducing Effin to the others in the room saying, “He’s the main guy for watches,” in Malayalam, and asks which watch he’s wearing. As Ali calls for the gift for Effin, the creator can be seen saying, “No, please. I presented you the watch out of love, I didn’t do it expecting anything in return,” to which Ali says, “The same way, I am giving this out of love.”
Ali points to the case of the watch he is gifting Effin and asks, “Which brand is this?” Effin responds saying, “These are huge brands, it’s a Rado.” Seeing the watch, Effin gets excited seeing the Rado watch was customised with Ali’s trademark ‘Y’ logo.
Ali is the chairman and managing director of the Lulu Group, which has 256 hypermarkets and malls in many Indian cities and the United Arab Emirates. His net worth, according to Forbes, stands at over $8.9 billion.
