Social media is synonymous with trends; some interesting, most of them bizarre, to put it mildly. If you scroll through social media platforms every other minute, you must have come across the new viral frenzy ‘look between X and Y on your keyboard’ already.
The trend asks users to look between two particular alphabets on their keyboards. While a section of users are using hilarious images asking fellow users to comprehend them with the given alphabets, some brands are impressing consumers with their hilarious take on the viral trend.
According to indy100.com, the viral trend originated from a meme shared in May 2021 on 4Chan, an image-based site that allows users to post comments and share images anonymously.
The meme was related to a K-On—a Japanese anime series—character with the caption, “look between T and O on your’e key bored (sic).” The letters were Y, U and I, spelled ‘Yui’, a character from a series about girls forming a band through their high school’s music club.
Cut to 2024, the meme began circulating again after a few X users shared posts on ‘K-On!’ and ‘My Hero Academia’ series. The trend took a hilarious turn as users created their own versions of memes out of it. From Delhi Police to Swiggy to YouTube India, many verified handles hopped on to the trend.
On Tuesday, the Delhi Police shared a road safety awareness post and wrote, “If you look at your keyboard while driving, the thing between Q and R will meet you with a challan. #RoadSafety @dtptraffic.” Quite creative, we admit!
Take a look:
Swiggy wrote, “Veg biryani is the best. Look between H and L on your keyboard.” Well played, Swiggy!
Sharing a still featuring singer Himesh Reshamiya, YouTube India wrote, “Look between I and P on your keyboard.” Oooo!
Tinder India used this trend to ask its users to go on a date. “Look between Y and O to know who needs to go on a date together,” it wrote on X. Smart!
Last month, the ‘Click Here’ trend dominated X, engaging major political parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress, and the Aam Aadmi Party.
