Things did not go as planned for a 50-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh who shot a video in a bid to go viral. He did grab eyeballs, but at what stake? It all started when Jitendra Kumar, a marginal farmer, reportedly rescued a snake; however, he wanted to make a dramatic reel video before releasing it.

Kumar is in critical condition after the snake bit him on the tongue when he tried to kiss it. The incident occurred in Haibatpur village, located in Amroha district.

According to eyewitnesses, Kumar was intoxicated at the time and was seen smoking. A viral video shows the snake wrapped around Kumar’s neck while several onlookers record the incident on their phones. As the video progresses, he is seen slowly moving the snake’s head toward his mouth. Just as he sticks out his tongue to “kiss” the reptile, it bites him, leaving the crowd stunned.

Kumar’s condition deteriorated quickly after the bite, an NDTV report said. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later transferred to one in Moradabad, where he remains in the ICU in critical condition. The video was shared by an X user, Priyanshu Mishra.

Sharing details of how the incident unfolded, Jaikirat Singh, the village head, said, “A snake had emerged from a wall in the area on Friday evening, which caused some panic.”

“Kumar arrived at the scene and managed to catch the snake. He then attempted to kiss it. But as his grip loosened, the snake bit him on his tongue. Shocked, Kumar dropped the snake, which slithered into the nearby bushes,” he told NDTV.

A US man spent two decades letting venomous snakes bite him to immunise his body against various deadly snakes, including king cobras, tiger snakes, and black mambas. According to a report published in the journal Cell, Tim Friede thus developed a venom-blocking drug against 13 snake species.
