Ramayan fame actor and BJP’s Meerut candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Arun Govil, faced online trolling after a video of him interacting with a reporter went viral.
In the viral video shared on X, the reporter asked in Hindi about the public issues Govil has been advocating for. Responding to the reporter, he said he hasn’t considered those matters yet, as his current focus is on campaigning for the elections. He mentioned that he would concentrate on addressing issues after the election phase.

This did not go well with netizens, who slammed Govil for his statements. Reacting to the video, a user commented, “Think before you vote.” Another user joked, “First let me appoint him as PM, we will think about the country later!”
“Ghor Kaliyug,” the third user reacted. “He is committing the biggest mistake of his life i.e. to fight elections. He is going to lose all the respect he earned for playing the iconic role of Ram,” another user wrote.
Earlier, Govil was criticised for carrying a portrait of Lord Ram during the 2024 Lok Sabha campaign from Meerut.
Arun Govil, 66, replaced three-time MP Rajendra Agarwal who has been holding the Meerut seat since 2004. Thanking PM Narendra Modi, Govil took to X and penned a note. “Heartfelt gratitude to Shri Narendra Modi ji and the selection committee who have given me such a big responsibility by making me the MP candidate of Meerut. I will make every effort to fully live up to the trust of the BJP and the expectations of the people. Jai Shri Ram,” he wrote in Hindi.
