Often featured as background music, the lively children’s song Aaha Tamatar Bada Majedar has taken social media by storm. However, when a video recently showed nursery teachers rehearsing the song during a training session, many criticised its inclusion in educational activities.
The video was shared on Instagram by Dr Nitin Sshakya, who describes himself as both a doctor and a bureaucrat. He praised the training of nursery teachers, captioning it, “Nursery teachers getting excellent training,” accompanied by a clapping emoji.
In the video, a group of nursery teachers is seen singing and performing the song Aaha Tamatar Bada Majedar. At the end, the teachers together ask, “Toh bachchon aap sab tamatar khayenge na? (So, children, will you all eat tomatoes?)” They respond to themselves with, “Yes, ma’am.”

The post has received varied feedback from users. While some praised the dedication of teachers, others criticised the training session for making education seem trivial and like a “real tamasha”.
One Instagram user wrote, “Real tamasha. It’s not all about education.” Another individual added, “This is really a sad part. The institute is earning out of this joke. I pity teachers now.” A third user commented, “I am also a nursery teacher, and I teach better than them.”
Some commenters came to the teachers’ defence, stating that they are required to conduct “special classes for rhymes”. One person remarked, “I have huge respect for teachers.”
The video also ignited a discussion about the salaries of people working in this field.
