Ratan Tata Inspirational Quotes: Ratan Naval Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday night at 86, leaving behind a legacy. He was taken to the hospital for age-related ailments and was undergoing treatment.

Tata Sons chairperson N Chandrasekaran issued a statement announcing his demise, stating, “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation..”

Tata served as a guiding light for India, steering the Tata Group through the nation’s economic liberalisation and its journey toward global prominence.

Born on December 28, 1937, in Bombay, now Mumbai, into the Parsi-Zoroastrian Tata family, one of India’s most famous commercial families, Tata was adopted by his grandmother, Navajbai Tata after his parents separated in 1948.

Joining the Tata Group in 1961, Ratan Tata began his career on the shop floor of Tata Steel in Jamshedpur and later became Chairman of Tata Sons in 1991, succeeding his uncle, the legendary JRD Tata, who played a pivotal role in the company’s history at its headquarters in Bombay House.

Under his leadership, the 155-year-old Tata Group, also referred to as the “salt to software” conglomerate, underwent a notable transformation, expanding its global footprint and diversifying into various industries, including steel, automobiles, information technology, and hospitality, growing from an annual revenue of approximately $5 billion to over $100 billion.

Apart from being a remarkable entrepreneur, Tata was committed to social welfare, directing 65% of the company’s profits to charitable trusts for education, healthcare, and rural development.

He also received the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, in 2000 and 2008 respectively, and earned recognition as one of the country’s greatest philanthropists for his generosity, positively impacting the lives of millions through his efforts in healthcare, education, drinking water, and various other fields.
