Top 10 Indians in Hurun Philanthropy List 2025: India’s wealthiest families are giving back more than ever, according to the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2025.

The report reveals that the country’s top 191 philanthropists — including 12 first-time entrants — collectively donated Rs 10,380 crore in FY25, marking an impressive 85% rise over the past three years.

Highlighting a growing culture of large-scale giving, the top 25 donors alone have contributed Rs 50,000 crore over three years — averaging Rs 46 crore per day.

For the fourth time in five years, Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL Technologies, and his family have topped the list as India’s Most Generous, with annual donations worth Rs 2,708 crore, primarily directed towards education and social development.

In second place is Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, whose family donated Rs 626 crore.

The company’s CSR spending stood at Rs 1,309 crore — exceeding the mandated CSR contribution by Rs 261 crore.

Sudhir Mehta and Samir Mehta of the UNM Foundation climbed nine places to enter the top 10, ranking ninth with donations worth Rs 189 crore — a 69% jump from last year — reflecting a growing focus on social development initiatives.

Ranking at No.8 in the top 10, Rohini Nilekani is also recognised as India’s most generous woman philanthropist, having contributed Rs 204 crore this year.

Nilekani donated ₹204 crore to support initiatives focused on social innovation and systemic transformation through Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies.

The youngest on the list are Nikhil and Nithin Kamath of Zerodha, who donated Rs 147 crore.

Meanwhile, professional leaders such as former L&T Group Chairman A M Naik (Rs 54 crore), Amit and Archana Chandra (Rs 47 crore), and venture capitalists Prashanth Prakash and Amitha Prashanth (Rs 17 crore) have made personal contributions totalling nearly Rs 800 crore over the past three years.
