WhatsApp users can now pin up to three messages per chat, a notable increase from the previous limit of just one message.
The pin option on WhatsApp allows users to highlight specific messages within a chat. When a message is pinned, it will be visible to everyone in the chat. The same applies for a pinned message on a WhatsApp group; every member can see the pinned message on top of the group.
Pinning a message on WhatsApp is a simple process achieved by long-pressing on a message – text, image, video, or sticker. Users can also choose how long a pin will last. Options include 24 hours, seven days, and 30 days. Pinned messages can be unpinned at any time and are displayed prominently beneath the user’s name in the chat.
For those who wish to highlight more than three messages per chat, the star option is available. Unlike pinning, there is no limit to the number of chats that can be starred.
In addition to pinning messages, users can also pin up to three chats to the top of the WhatsApp chat box. However, this feature is currently limited to beta testers, with a wider rollout expected in the coming days.
WhatsApp is also introducing Meta AI to select users, powered by the in-house Llama technology, offering capabilities such as AI chatbots and image generation. Similar features are reportedly in development for other Meta products, including Instagram and Facebook.
