“They say ViewSonic is a good company that makes monitors, but they fail to realise that we are more than just that,” said James Chu, founder, and chairman of ViewSonic, the US-based audio-visual solutions provider. Chu sat with indianexpress.com for an interview on his first visit to India.

In 2016, Chu saw an opportunity and thought ViewSonic should not just be a hardware company but a solution company. “If we can provide solutions (EdTech), we can solve people’s problems,” he added.

The chairman said that ViewSonic “hopes to help teachers easily teach in the classroom without making them learn about underlying software by offering an ecosystem.” According to him, this is a relatively unexplored domain in India, and ViewSonic aims to “empower” teachers by offering them solutions that will allow them to teach effortlessly, thereby providing students with quality education.

The company is doing so by combining hardware and software, which includes products like the IFP105S, a large 105-inch 5K resolution interactive flat panel paired with myViewBoard, an all-exclusive suite of education tools that also includes AI capabilities, that help teachers prepare for classes. The company also offers conference cameras, slot-in PCs, pen displays, and compact touch monitors.

ViewSonic is the leader in the interactive display market in India, with a 32.5 per cent market share. The brand entered the EdTech space a while ago in India and recently launched UNIVERSE, a total solution for tech-enabled teaching and learning. The company describes this as a 3D virtual campus that comprises both hardware and software solutions.

ViewSonic solutions can help create a digital interactive teaching environment (modern classrooms) in the classroom with a minimal budget. In terms of privacy, these products are said to follow GDPR and European standards, as they are sold worldwide. In India, the company has already partnered with the Gujarat State Education Board, Rajasthan Education Department, Mumbai Mahanagar Palike, and many other state education boards across the country.
