Sony India unveils new roster of BRAVIA premium TVs with focus on bringing ‘Cinema Home’

Sony has also brought Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli on-board as brand ambassador of the new BRAVIA lineup for FY24.

Sony India is refreshing its lineup of premium BRAVIA televisions with a focus on allowing customers to recreate cinema like experience in the comfort of their homes. As part of its ‘Cinema is Coming Home’ campaign that was launched in Hyderabad on Monday, September 30, the Japanese consumer electronics giant unveiled the new BRAVIA 9, 8, 7, and 3 series designed to “bring the magic of the big screen right into living rooms.”

Its flagship BRAVIA 9 series leads the line-up and comes with an XR Backlit MasterDrive that offers high peak luminance, supreme contrast, and natural colours. It can be further paired with the newly launched BRAVIA Theatre Bar 8, BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9, and Bravia Theatre Quad for a more immersive experiences than conventional OLEDs.

Sony has also brought Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli on-board as brand ambassador of the new BRAVIA lineup for FY24.

“With ‘Cinema is Coming Home,’ we are bringing to life the filmmaker’s vision in the most authentic way possible. Our BRAVIA products are designed to deliver the ultimate cinema experience, combining dazzling picture quality with immersive sound that resonates with the soul of movie enthusiasts,” Sunil Nayyar, the managing director of Sony India, said at Monday’s launch.

The global brand is also shifting away from its existing nomenclature of premium TV models such as the A80L or A95L series. “To increase customer brand recognition of BRAVIA and to help customers better understand our products, we have introduced marketing names in addition to model names and changed our naming rules,” the company said.

Cinematic picture and sound

With a strong foothold in manufacturing both consumer electronics as well as professional filmmaking gear, Sony is in a unique position to pull off delivering a full-fledged cinematic experience with its BRAVIA televisions and BRAVIA Theatre home audio devices.

For instance, Sony said that the new BRAVIA lineup comes with Studio Calibration, a feature that offers picture quality as intended by directors and filmmakers and has been developed in collaboration with OTT streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

“This concept redefines the home viewing experience, enabling audiences to truly immerse themselves in the authentic essence of cinema. With the new BRAVIA series, viewers can enjoy stunning picture quality and immersive sound, transforming their living rooms into a genuine cinematic haven. It’s not just about watching a film; it’s about experiencing the magic and emotion of storytelling in the comfort of home,” Rajamouli said at the launch event in Hyderabad.

BRAVIA further incorporates cinema-derived technologies such as IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Vision and Atmos.
