Even after the recent tariff increase, both Airtel and Jio still provide unlimited 5G data for their customers. However, now only users with an active plan offering at least 2 GB of 4G data per day can access high-speed 5G data. Jio users need to spend a minimum of Rs 349 a month, while Airtel users have to spend at least Rs 379 a month.
To enable other users to experience the 5G network, both Jio and Airtel have now come up with 5G booster plans. These plans are applicable for users on a recharge plan with 1/1.5 GB of 4G data per day and give them access to the 5G network for a nominal price.
Both Airtel and Jio have introduced three 5G booster plans priced at Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151, respectively, each with varied benefits. While these plans themselves do not come with any validity, they need to be paired with an existing plan to experience the 5G network on supported devices. Besides, these plans also offer additional 4G data, which is helpful for those where 5G network coverage is patchy.
Although labelled as unlimited, Airtel has a fair usage policy (FUP) of 300 GB for 30 days, while Jio currently has no such limits. This means Airtel 5G users can only access up to 300 GB of high-speed 5G data per month, and the speed will be reduced to 64 kbps post-FUP limit.
The most affordable 5G booster plan from Airtel and Jio is priced at Rs 51, which offers 3 GB of 4G data. This plan is applicable to those who already have a recharge plan with 1.5 GB of 4G data per day, and this plan comes with a maximum validity of one month for Jio users while Airtel users can enjoy the benefits as per the base plan validity.
This plan is valid for users with a recharge plan that offers either 1/1.5 GB of 4G data per day. On this plan, Jio offers a maximum validity of two months, along with 6 GB of additional 4G data, while Airtel users will get the validity of their base plan. This means, if you recharge this on top of a plan with three months of validity, you will be able to access 5G data for the entire period.
On Jio, this plan is only applicable to users with a recharge plan that offers 1.5 GB of 4G data. On Jio, this plan has a maximum validity of three months and offers 9 GB of 4G data for the entire period. On Airtel, the plan will follow the validity of the base plan with 1 GB of 1.5GB of 4G data.
Plan Price (Rs) | Airtel Daily 4G Data Requirement | Jio Daily 4G Data Requirement | Additional 4G Data | Maximum Validity (Jio) |
51 | 1GB or 1.5GB plan | 1.5GB plan | 3GB | 1 Month |
101 | 1GB or 1.5GB plan | 1GB or 1.5GB plan | 6GB | 2 Months |
151 | 1GB or 1.5GB plans | 1.5GB plan | 9GB | 3 Months |
These plans are really helpful for users who have already recharged their number that does not offer 5G benefits. One can experience the same by paying an additional Rs 51 per month on both Airtel and Jio networks.
