Google Assistant will reportedly soon support more than fourteen different languages. XDA Developers has managed to obtain the list from the latest version of the app’s APK file and it confirms this development. The Google Assistant currently supports 17 languages.
The listing that was found by XDA Developer Quinny899 reveal the majority of the new languages to be Asian and include Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Marathi among others. Google Assitant will support a few western languages as well, like German (Austria), Polish, Turkish, Arabic and others. Google has not made any announcement about the new languages it will support. However, XDA Developers noted that the latest beta version of the app was rolled out over the weekend.
Google’s virtual assistant was introduced with the original Pixel in 2016. Google Assistant was launched globally at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2017. At MWC 2018, the Moutain View company announced that the Assistant will support 30 languages by the end of this year. The Google Assistant has ‘evolved’ over the past two years and it is now available on most Android devices, Google Home smart speakers, wearables and a host of IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
Currently, the virtual assistant has support for Hindi, Danish, French, German, Italian and 12 other languages. The latest list from XDA Developers suggests that the new languages are aimed at the Asian market.
