OnePlus 3 launch: Here is how to buy Loop VR and watch the event

OnePlus 3 will be launching via a VR livestream as well, just like the OnePlus 2. Here's how to watch.

OnePlus 3 launch will be the “world’s first global shopping experience in VR” with visitors to The Loop being able to order the OnePlus 3 before anyone else.

Virtual Reality is becoming all the craze among smartphone makers. After Samsung’s much publicised Galaxy S7 launch powered by VR headsets at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, OnePlus is getting ready to do another VR launch for its third flagship expected in a few weeks. The OnePlus 2 too got a VR release last year.

“With the OnePlus 3, we’re upping the ante. We believe we, and the tech industry as a whole, have only scratched the surface of what can be done in VR, and there’s much more immersive experiences to be had. Inspired by a certain fan video, we took to our imagination of where OnePlus would be decades from now, having moved our headquarters to space. Our space station is called The Loop, and we’re excited for you to check it out,” Carl Pei of OnePlus said in a blog post.

Pei said in his post that the OnePlus 3 launch will be the “world’s first global shopping experience in VR” with visitors to The Loop being able to order the OnePlus 3 before anyone else, in VR.

While 30,000 OnePlus Cardboard viewers were sent to fans last year for the launch, this the company has announced the OnePlus Loop VR Headset “for a more robust, immersive and comfortable experience”. Loop VR has been developed together with AntVR, which also provides headsets for Lenovo devices.

Vikas Agarwal, General Manager – India, OnePlus said “India, along with other global markets will get to witness the same awesome experience as anywhere else. As a thank you to our community, we are also giving away our next-gen Loop VR headsets at just Re 1.”

The Loop VR headsets will only be available to fans who register for it on the Amazon Loop VR page and here. The headsets will be on sale June 3 and June 7. “We are also having some amazing giveaways on our social media channels along with our partners for the Loop VR headset,” he added in a note.

A new image of OnePlus 3 was leaked earlier this month by well-known tipster Evan Blass, who runs the Twitter handle @evleaks and based on that it looks like OnePlus will ditch the familiar sandstone finish for an all metal design.
