Do you know that the HTC One M8 is one of the most hotly anticipated premium handsets of 2014? In fact, much before it was launched, the One M8 became one of the most leaked phones on the internet. What is so special about this device? Let’s find out.
The 5-inch, full HD display is quite bright and the screen is clearly visible even under the sun. Further, viewing angles are great and colours produced by the screen are vivid. The display is, without doubt, one of the brightest you will get to see in the market today. The phone gets some useful features such as the Car Mode (shows larger versions of music controls, maps and dialler) and Kid Mode (restricts what a child can do when you give him or her your phone).
The One M8 is powered by the Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the latest version of the operating software. Its processor is the 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core and the phone comes with a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. The 2600 mAh battery has a claimed standby time of up to 496 hours and a talk time of up to 20 hours, which we found to be correct. In fact, last Sunday we heavily used the phone—clicked photos (100), captured videos (20 minutes), browsed the web (2 hours), watched two movies and listened to music (30 minutes)— and yet had 20% charge left at the end of the day!
On the rear of the camera, as I said, are two lenses. The second lens (on top of the primary lens), while it doesn’t capture images, actually helps in detecting and separating backgrounds and foregrounds as it scans depth and adds that information to the picture. With a little bit of experience, you can do a whole lot with HTC One M8’s cameras. A beautiful feature is the slow motion video recording mode.
Competing with the likes of Sony Xperia Z2, Samsung Galaxy S5 and Apple iPhone 5S, the HTC One M8 is a powerhouse of a phone
