Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Book4 Edge, its first-ever artificial intelligence personal computer with a dedicated Copilot key. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite CPUs, the new laptop is the “next generation of AI PCs”, according to the company.
It also happens to be one of the first Copilot Plus PCs, which are basically Windows PCs with AI features. The company says you can connect the laptop to a Galaxy phone and use Galaxy AI features like Circle to Search, Live Translate and Chat Assist.
The Galaxy Book4 Edge is available in 14-inch and 16-inch models and comes with a 3K 120Hz AMOLED touchscreen with a peak brightness of 400 nits for normal content and 500 nits for HDR (high dynamic range) videos.
While the 14-inch variant of the Galaxy Book4 Edge features a 12-core Snapdragon X Elite processor, the 16-inch version has the same processor with a slightly higher clock speed. However, both CPUs have the same NPU (neural processing unit) that offers 45TOPS of performance, which Microsoft says is more than enough to run Copilot Plus. The laptop runs on Windows 11 out of the box, comes with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage.
While the 14-inch Galaxy Book4 Edge gets two USB 4 Type-C ports, a HDMI 2.1 connector and a 3.5mm headphone jack, the larger 16-inch model has the same connectivity options in addition to a USB 3.2 Type-A port and a microSD card slot. Another area where the two models vary is weight. The 14-inch version weighs just 1.16 kg whereas the 16-inch model weighs 1.55kg.
Samsung says the Galaxy Book4 Edge supports 65W fast charging with the battery lasting up to 22 hours on a single charge if all you do is watch videos.
The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge will go on sale on June 18 and initially be available in Germany, France, Italy, Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, but there is no word about the pricing and whether the company plans to launch the laptop in India.
