IPL 2025: Playoffs qualification scenario update for all teams after SRH vs DC; points table cut-off, remaining schedule

IPL 2025: With 15 matches left in the league stage, here is a team-wise Playoffs qualification scenario for the eight franchise left in contention, including MI, RCB, GT, PBKS, LSG, KKR and DC.

IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification Scenarios: The race for the IPL 2025 Playoffs is heating up with less than a fortnight of league-stage action left. With 16 games remaining in the league, seven of 10 teams are still mathematically in the Playoffs qualification race, with former champions Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad being the only teams to be eliminated.

However, the competition is cutthroat in the top half of the standings, with at least three teams vying for 20 points or more.

While Royal Challengers Bengaluru have reached 16 points and are followed by Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans at 14 points, a checkpoint that determined at least one Playoffs spot last year, the top four for this season are yet to be ascertained. With MI, GT, and RCB simultaneously capable of reaching 20 points, the Playoffs cut-off could shore up to at least 18 points this season.

Team-wise IPL 2025 Playoffs qualification scenario

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Remaining fixtures: – v LSG (away), v SRH, v KKR

With no matches left against MI or GT, RCB can cut a straight path to 22 points should they win all of their remaining games. Despite concerns at the Chinnaswamy, RCB will be confident of earning a Playoffs spot should they win at least one more game to reach 18 points. A win over CSK on Saturday has lessened the pressure on Rajat Patidar’s team.

Best Possible Finish: 22 points

Punjab Kings

Remaining fixtures:– v DC, v MI, v RR (away)

With a win over Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings have jumped to second spot with three games to go. They will also meet direct competitiors Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in the upcoming games and will need to walk away with at least one more win to remain in the race. That would still leave them one short of the potential cut-off mark at 18 points before their final match against RR.

Best Possible Finish: 21 points

Mumbai Indians

Remaining fixtures: v GT, v PBKS (away), v DC

A top-of-the-table clash against Gujarat could probably seal the firm front-runner for the top spot in the points table. On a six-match winning spree, MI can extend their winning run to nine with wins in their remaining games and shore up to as high as 20 points. To confirm qualification, MI will need to win at least two games.

Best Possible Finish: 20 points

Remaining fixtures: v MI (away), v DC (away), v LSG, v CSK

Even if they are to lose their upcoming away game in Mumbai, GT can tally 20 points with wins in their other three matches. If a spotless win streak is to continue, the Titans can go even further up to 22 points and mark the top spot. Like Mumbai, GT too might need to win at least two of the remaining games to breach the cut-off mark.

Best Possible Finish: 22 points

Delhi Capitals

Remaining fixtures:– v PBKS (away), v GT, v MI (away)

Taking on three top 4 teams in their upcoming matches, Delhi Capitals find themselves in a tight spot after squandering their positive start to the campaign in recent matches. Down to 13 points in 11 matches, DC can reach 19 points should they win all games. That would also mean the eventual cut-offs could trim even below 18 points, but Axar Patel’s men can only rest assured if they rack up three more wins, at least.

Best Possible Finish: 19 points

Lucknow Super Giants

Remaining fixtures:– v RCB, v GT (away), v SRH

Down to seventh place with 10 points, LSG will need to win all three games to stand a chance to make the Playoffs race tight. However, they could end up missing the potential cut-off mark of 18 points even then.

Best Possible Finish: 18 points

Kolkata Knight Riders

Remaining fixtures:– v CSK, v SRH (away), v RCB (away)

With no matches left against the top 2 of MI and GT, KKR can only target at best one of the last two spots in the Playoffs. They can jump to 17 points with wins in all games, but will also have to hope that RCB and PBKS do not win more than two games in their remaining outings.

Best Possible Finish: 17 points
