“Even in Delhi, youngsters are performing. They went and beat Bangalore in Bangalore. He has confidence in the youngsters and there is no better thing than going and performing there.”

While most of the teams have excelled while chasing, Pollard terms it as more difficult compared to batting first.

“Even though you know how much to get, you still have to get those runs. Then wickets will fall and you will go on a backfoot and you have to change your game. But whether you chase well or bat first, you have to bat properly. In any ground when you go, you know what is the par score.”

He did agree that defending totals is difficult but bowlers need to execute what they practice.

“If you give your hundred percent and execute your plans and lose, I would accept that other team played better cricket. But if we can’t execute then we have to look at the faults.”
