India vs New Zealand 1st T20I Highlights:

16:02 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Kohli elated with big win

We enjoyed this. Landing two days before and playing a game like this, it was fantastic. The crowd was right behind us. We never spoke of the jetlag in the team. We just focused on what we needed to do to win. We were looking forward to doing well. We have done well in T20Is in the last one year. You can't be harsh on anyone on this sort of a pitch. I thought 230 was on at one point, but we pulled it back nicely.

16:00 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Williamson finds positive in loss

There are a lot of positives. It is hard to defend here and there was a bit of dew here. To score over 200 on a used wicket was a good effort. Credit to India for the way they played. Taking pace off seemed to be working okay, but it was tough to execute because India put us under pressure constantly. It was nice to build some partnerships. Guys came in and played their roles.

15:58 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Player of the match

Shreyas Iyer named 'Player of the match' for his unbeaten 58. This was India's fourth 200-plus successful run chase, the most by any team in the format.

"We had lost quick wickets, so we had to build partnerships. We always knew we can score runs because this is a small ground. Looking forward to similar support in the remaining games as well," Iyer said.

15:48 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Iyer finishes in style!

Shreyas Iyer hits a huge maximum and wraps up the run chase in style. This is India's third-highest run chase in T20I cricket. Also, this is India's second T20I win in New Zealand. Iyer remains unbeaten for 58 from 29 deliveries. IND - 204/4 after 19 overs

15:42 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Both teams in hunt

11 runs from the over including two boundaries from Shreyas Iyer's bat. Poor bowling from debutant Hamish Bennett. IND - 186/4 after 18 overs

15:36 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Iyer keeps it going

The required run rate is well under control as India need 29 runs from 18 deliveries. Shreyas Iyer hits a six off the short ball from Tim Southee. IND - 175/4 after 17 overs

15:32 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Sodhi leaks runs in final over

Manish Pandey gets into the attack as he hits a marginally short delivery for a maximum. Shreyas Iyer gets a boundary with a cut shot as well. 14 runs from Sodhi's final over. IND - 165/4 after 16 overs

150 up!

Hamish Bennett keeps it tight, no boundary from his third over. Manish Pandey and Shreyas Iyer struggle to hit the ball in the gap. IND - 151/4 after 15 overs

15:18 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Dube finesses Santner

Left-arm spinner spinning the ball into the left-handed Shivam Dube is not a good idea. Dube hits a four followed by a maximum just clearing the fielder in the deep. 13 runs from Santner's final over. IND - 142/3 after 13 overs

15:10 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Guptill takes a stunner

Martin Guptill comes running from the boundary, dives forward and takes the catch just inches off the ground. An absolute blinder from Guptill. Virat Kohli falls for 45. Two quick wickets for New Zealand. Will this be the turning point of the game? IND - 121/3 after 11.1 overs

15:07 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Rahul falls for 56

Once again, KL Rahul loses his wicket after getting to the half-century. Ish Sodhi does what Yuzvendra Chahal did, pitching it wide of offstump. Rahul departs for 56. IND - 115/2 after 10 overs

14:59 (IST)24 Jan 2020
FIFTY!

KL Rahul gets to his half-century in style. Rahul hits the free hit delivery for a six over long-on. That was more of a slap over the fence. Rahul is here to stay as an opener. Virat Kohli gets a life as Ish Sodhi drops his catch. Nightmare over for Blair Tickner, 16 runs from it. 204 seems pretty gettable now.  IND - 107/1 after 9 overs

14:53 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Rahul goes big

KL Rahul is on another level. Rahul is timing the ball with perfection. Mitchell Santner goes for 14 runs in the over including a four followed by a maximum. IND - 91/1 after 8 overs

14:48 (IST)24 Jan 2020

14:44 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Silly from Kiwis

An easy run out chance missed by the Kiwis. KL Rahul gets a second chance. 8 runs from Bennett's over including a boundary off Virat Kohli's bat. End of powerplay overs. IND - 65/1 after 6 overs

14:40 (IST)24 Jan 2020
50 up!

KL Rahul shows his class as he hits a huge six off Tim Southee. WRISTS OF STEEL! Just a flick that goes deep into the crowd. Virat Kohli lauds Rahul for that shot. He follows it up with a boundary. IND - 57/1 after 5 overs

14:32 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Kohli hits maximum

A classy shot from Virat Kohli as he hits the ball on the up and over the long off boundary for a maximum. 10 runs from Blair Tickner's first over. IND - 41/1 after 4 overs

14:31 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Kohli hits boundary

Big day for Taylor

Ross Taylor scored his first T20I fifty in six years. His previous T20I half-century came against South Africa in T20 World Cup. Also, this is the fifth instance in T20I cricket history where three batsmen have scored half-centuries in an innings.

14:05 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Final over

No boundary scored from the final over bowled by Jasprit Bumrah but New Zealand still managed to score 10 runs. Ross Taylor gets to his sixth T20I fifty. Bumrah got injured on the third delivery landing awkwardly during his follow-through. He bowled the rest of the deliveries after getting help from the physio. NZ - 203/5 after 20 overs

13:56 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Shami ends expensive spell

Mohammed Shami bowls a relatively decent over after going for 22 runs in his previous one. 9 runs from the penultimate over including a boundary. Not bad under these circumstances. NZ - 191/5 after 19 overs.

13:50 (IST)24 Jan 2020
WICKET!

Tim Seifert batting way down the order than his usual position goes after Jasprit Bumrah on the second delivery he faces. Seifert gets deceived by Bumrah's slower one and mistimes it to long on fielder Shreyas Iyer. Just fours runs and a wicket from the over. Mitchell Santner in the middle now. NZ - 182/5 after 18 overs

13:45 (IST)24 Jan 2020

13:40 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Taylor blows Shami away

13:35 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Taylor manipulates Jadeja

First, Ross Taylor used Ravindra Jadeja's pace to get a boundary, playing it away from the short third man fielder. Then, Taylor forced Jadeja to ball a little slower and his arc. The veteran gets into the position quickly and hits it over deep mid-wicket boundary and deep into the crowd. NZ - 143/3 after 15 overs

13:31 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Williamson goes big again

It is hard to believe that Kane Williamson has hit four sixes in his innings already but not a single four. Williamson hits Shivam Dube for a flat six over deep square leg. 9 runs from Dube's third over. Williamson's batting at a strike rate of 200. NZ - 130/3 after 14 overs

13:14 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Munro hits fifty

Colin Munro gets to his 10th T20I fifty with an edge going past the wicketkeeper's hands. Munro has batted well today, taking the attack to Indian fast bowlers without taking extra risks. Expensive third over from Yuzvendra Chahal, 11 runs from it. NZ - 102/1 after 11 overs

13:11 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Williamson goes big

Just one single from Shivam Dube's first five deliveries but Kane Williamson spoils his figures with a six off the last delivery. Williamson hits it straight over long-off for a six, his first of the innings. NZ - 91/1 after 10 overs.

13:06 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Chahal keeps the pressure on

Dube provides breakthrough

Shivam Dube comes into the attack and gets the major breakthrough. Martin Guptill plays a pull shot but gets caught by Rohit Sharma at the boundary. Brilliant catch from Rohit maintaining his balance inches away from the boundary. Guptill departs for 30 from 19 deliveries. NZ - 81/1 after 8 overs

2,2,4,6,0,4! Shardul Thakur is struggling in the powerplay overs on a pitch and ground that does not favour medium-fast bowlers. Colin Munro hits two fours and one six from Thakur's second over. The hosts are off to a terrific start. NZ - 44/0 after 4 overs

Kane Williamson on Toss

It was a 50-50 decision with the track being used. We would want to get some runs on the board first and then defend it. The two guys missing out are Mitchell and Kuggeleijn. So we have two seamers, de Grandhomme. It's a fantastic opportunity against one of the best sides, if not the best sides. It's a chance for us to become a better side and execute our plans.

11:57 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Virat Kohli on toss

"We're gonna have a bowl first. Looks a nice pitch to bat on. It might be hard to pick the ball up initially due to light going up. We're pretty much fine (from the travel. We've played 50-over cricket (heading to this series) and are ready for T20 cricket. The five guys not playing are Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar and Rishabh Pant. The character to bounce back from difficult situations gives us an edge in alien conditions. We just gotta come out and play with belief in our abilities."

11:45 (IST)24 Jan 2020
Sunil Gavaskar's pitch report

"It's a boundary-hitting ground. No total is unchaseable. It looks a good pitch to bat on. There isn't any grass on the surface. Seamers might not get much help from it. It's a hard deck, so the ball should come on nicely to the bat and encourage strokeplay"
