From KL to Rahul bhai – Indian opener finds his Zen mode in England
The question before the series was whether KL Rahul was a consistently good batsman or a batsman who just played good knocks. It was something that bothered the batsman too. Few days before this Test, he would bump into his one-time team mate Cheteshwar Pujara and share with him his goals for this England tour. Rahul wanted to convert his good starts into great hundreds.
Words can follow but the numbers rest Rahul’s case. The Indian opener’s scoring sequence in the forgettable Australia tour was – 26, 77, 37, 7, 84, 4*, 24, 0, 4, 13. In England it has been – 42, 137, 2, 55, 100. From just two 50s in 5 Tests, Rahul has 2 hundreds and 1 fifty in two Tests here. Now, it seems he is a good batsman with good knocks. India’s new senior-most batsman is doing what seniors are supposed to be doing.

IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Akash Deep falls at stroke of Stumps, IND 58/4 need 135 runs to win at Lord's
Well, well, Ben Stokes picked up Akash Deep. The ball came in with the angle and nibbled away this time from the other end, and the stumps got rattled. This is a superb bowling passage for England. Brydon Carse has turned on the heat in the last 10-15 minutes in this game. India, if they were not in a spot of bother at 10:30 IST, they are now. It is England who will be smiling at what has manifest. India needs KL Rahul to stay in the middle and play the role of experienced guy and take them home. We will be back tomorrow, do join us we have a cracking day on our hands.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Carse on fire
This is spell with fire from Carse. He has bent his back and hit the pitch hard and angled the ball in the new ball nibble is making it do a lot more. The brilliance of spell from Carse is the control and precision of how much is enough to trap the batters in front of the wicket.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Carse gets Gill
Carse has picked up another one here. The ball going down the slope with Carse's action kind of creating all sorts of trouble it is just that extra nibble of this new ball Carse is getting is making the batters uncertain of things Gill judged it was coming in and tried to flick one on the leg-side however, the ball jagged back in ever so slightly into Gill and was trapped in front of the wicket that was plumb Gill did went upstairs but it did look out straight away. Akash Deep has walked into the middle and out of nowhere, where thanks to Carse, this game has come alive.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Nair falls
Karun Nair has fallen here. It was a delivery of good length around that fourth stump to off-stump channel which nibbled into him slightly, and Nair left the ball, and it brushed the pad of Nair, and it was judged an LBW. Another failure for Nair in the series, while the team is winning, players can be carried, but India does have Sai Sudharsan, who is a youngster in the ranks, waiting for opportunity, and wickets have been quite kind for batting so we might see a decision soon. This is getting very tricky for Nair. Shubman Gill has walked into the middle, and considering what has happened yesterday, he is no short of visitors.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Stump line is only way
Double change for England, there have been plenty of deliveries so far that have been too wide or let's say too comfortable to leave. On wickets which is bouncing up and down the best and most threatening delivery is to bowl the stump line. If it takes off, it does, and if it keeps low, it does. As of now, there is too much looking into the illusory swing, which is not helping them. Be it Carse, be it Stokes, they have to keep hitting the stumps. There might be one odd sucker delivery to drive as change-up or see the batter is concentrating or not but apart from that only way England can get anything out of this game is if they keep hitting stumps.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Stokes into attack
Ben Stokes has brought himself into attack before Brydon Carse, and it is the end, there is uneven bounce. Stokes does have this awkward realise where it does seem like ball is going away from the batter however, he can bring it back in quite sharply also he uses the crease quite well which can make him quite tricky but he can be expensive and England cannot afford to be leaky in this innings as faster India gets runs the more confident they will get the more English shoulders will drop. Whatever they can do, they have to do while the seam is prominent.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Small totals defense problems
Defending small totals such as this one of the biggest problems England have, or in fact as we update, is one player getting a quick 30-40 to kill the chase. KL Rahul is on 17 from 21 balls a few more boundaries from him and Karun Nair will take India to 50 within no time that will dampen the spirits of the English bowlers which makes it more the case that Stokes has to bring him all his bowlers in the attack early so that they have equal opportunity try few things with runs in hand. Because right now, runs are being scored at quite a healthy clip here.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Stuck in pitch
The ball was stuck on the pitch. KL Rahul played it uppishly, and it was a caught and bowled opportunity which Chris Woakes spilt. To add further salt to wound Rahul drove a couple of majestically for boundaries. This has been quite an entertaining passage of play for both sides. However, the opportunity that Woakes is an indication that England needs Shoaib Bashir in this innings to help them pick 10 wickets. He is not at a stage in his career where he can win the game on his own, but a couple will do the other bowlers a world of good. Yet again, the other thing England can do is bring Carse in next over into the attack.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Short ball
It was a short ball which Jaiswal tried to pull, which could have been left It did seem like a half-hearted one, something which felt like him trying to stamp his authority into this small chase early, instead of being done with precision. Nevertheless India has already lost one here. Both Archer and Chris Woakes have started well here, they wanted a wicket, and they got one. Karun Nair has walked into the middle. While it might not be the most English thing to do but bringing in Brydon Carse early into this game in the next 10 minutes or so will not be a bad move it all. It is usually the Australians who operate in that way.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Woakes and Archer start
Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer have taken the new ball here, and if England have any chance of winning this game, they have to strike a few early wickets, and that is a wicket, not just a wicket. Unless they pick up 2-3 here early in the piece, it is hard to see how England are going to win it. As per the evidence of the series, whenever the first change bowler has come, the Indians have been quite brutal against them, hence either bring in Carse early into the attack and get him into the game, or pick 2-3 wickets, which forces India to give respect to Carse. As we update Jaiswal has fallen.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: ENG 192 all out vs IND at Lord's
Sundar gets four and pulls out the stump, it might not be a five, it was more valuable. Again this pitch, the way it turned out, there is nothing favourable for England today or their batters in it. Unless going forward, they sort out their pitch conundrum, India might just pull off a famous series win here in England. This is all too subcontinental for their liking. In addition to that some of the shot making has to be questioned. As per India Mohammed Siraj in the morning and Sunder in the afternoon with Bumrah with his vintage yorker adding icing on the cake, everything went to plan. This can be chased, and India has to take the lead in the series here in the Lord's unless they combust.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Sundar...
There were a lot of criticisms on the side Gambhir picked, but the more the two games have unfolded, the more things have started to make sense. Sudnar and Jadeja were both part of the eleven even in Australia, which was a bit of a surprise, and here again, the same combination, but what Sundar is is a Jadeja-like cricketer in the making. Although Sundar still does not have the prolific record Jadeja has, the technique with the bat is there and his bowling has been absoloutely magnificent today the revs on the ball he has put in the rhtym looked so beautiful for an off-spinner while wickets column might not have five or 10 but this is as gooder spell Sundar has bowled.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Bumrah picks Woakes
That is magnificent. There are just passages of play in red-ball cricket when Bumrah gets into that zone where he is abslouetly untouchable and he is operating in that mode at the moment first it was Carse and then it was Woakes, nothing a hard-lenght delivery which just going with the angle and a batter intimidated by whatsoever might come left his bat hanging in the air and lost his bail. This game is changing quite quickly for England to react. There are plenty of questions that need answering from their end because this game they had it many times and they failed to win moments India when their opportunity came, pounced all over them.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Bumrah picks Carse
Jasprit Bumrah too snapped one at the other end, and it is Brydon Carse with his trademark yorker. England is way short of the total they would want here. They might have a competent pace attack, they need a spinner to bowl. We are still unsure of where Bashir is with his finger injury in this game. The techniques of top-order England batters have to be questioned at this stage of the series. These are not seaming wickets, and Indian bowlers, though, have bowled well on flat wickets. There has to be some resistance shown as home players, and this is quite an abysmal showing so far in the last two games after the highs of Headingly.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Sundar picks Stokes
It is Bumrah and Sundar who have started the proceedings for India in the evening session, and it is a very conventional choice from Gill, who so far has shown quite a bit of chopping and changing with his bowling combinations after breaks and swapping ends through the session. As we update, Sundar has picked up Ben Stokes here. It was an atrocious shot under the circumstances, especially with the amount of revs Sundar is getting and the rough there is on the outside off-stump of the batter. Goodness, this game has turned on its head in no time. England would be kicking themselves with the wickets they have got in this series, while Edgbaston was complained about as a subcontinent one, this feels like Mumbai Day 3 red-soil turner.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Welcome back!
We are back for the final session of the day. England have batted well for most of the noon session, but it was Sundar's magic which did the damage. We might see more spin in this session and a bit of pace too to be used by India.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Jumpy, edgy and ugly England’s batsmen make heavy weather of Lord’s conditions
The unusual lack of challenging pitches in the first two Tests of this series, officially attributed to a dry summer, might actually be due to England's struggles with batting on difficult tracks. Day 4 of the Lord's Test serves as a key example. On that day, England's "Bazballers" appeared unprepared for defensive play against the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who effectively exploited the pitch conditions. Their jumpy and edgy approach led to injuries, not from bravery, but from their inability to defend the ball. (Read more from Sandeep Dwivedi)
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes unbeaten at Tea, ENG 175/6 vs IND at Lord's
Well, that session once again goes to India. Although only two wickets fell, and it could have been shared but England are vulnerable to collapse with their current situation. There is a lot of turn for the Indian spinners on this wicket and also uneven bounce. If Gill continues with spinner from one end post the Tea break, it is hard to see how England will post that safe 300. They are in trouble are England we are unclear about Shoiab Bashir too because if he is not bowling that is a lot of pressure on seam attack which has looked on and off through the series to pick 10 wickets underwhatever score England will post in this third innings and to be fair it does seem like they will end up with a subpar one.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Super Sundar
Sundar, since his introduction, has changed the complexion of the game. The turn was always expected, but India had to make the most of it, and Sundar did. That is some bowling from him. Since his debut in this format of the game, he has hardly had games where his bowling looked off-colour. The revs he is able to get the discipline and accuracy with which he is being able to bowl and because he is quite a handy bat at eight India seems to have found an exceptional Test match cricketer for 10 years to come will he more in Ashwin mould as a bowler who can bat or get into Jadeja mould in overseas conditions will be something remained to be seen.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Sundar gets Smith
India has created an opening here, although the introduction of spin took a while, it is a good thing they are operating from both ends. Ben Stokes, especially, is vulnerable to playing spin because of his willingness to pick it off the length then hand and with the rough outside his off-stump, he is a candidate to get out to an off-spinner. As we update, Sundar has picked up Jamie Smith. It was a delivery which Smith played for a conventional turn but the ball went straight with the arm and took the off-stump of Smith. Goodness, the amount of revs on that delivery would make Ashwin proud if he is watching.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Tame dimissal from Root
In the end, it was a tame dismissal of Root. He tried to sweep one, and the ball turned away from his grasp and hit the leg-stump. Sundar gets his first wicket, and India have finally got the breakthrough. Well, Gill has the last laugh with his end change; he got the wicket in the end. As per Root, though he played 96 deliveries at no point in that innings, he looked convincing and looked like someone who is adjusted to the pace of the wicket and in the end, the kind of dismissal that had him shows the kind of innings he had. Jamie Smith has walked into the middle for England, and he is in top form for them.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: End swapping
Quite a bit of end swapping is happening here. First, Jadeja was brought in and then taken out again, and Washington Sundar was brought in from that end, and the end at which Siraj was bowling is the one at which Jadeja was brought in. It has happened at the start of the session too, when Siraj came from the opposite end where he picked up a couple of wickets in the morning session,, and then Gill, once brought in Bumrah, decided to change Siraj's end. It is one of very active parts of his captaincy where he constantly chops and changes the ends of bowlers. We have to see how that part of his captaincy will manifest as his career progresses.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Root gets away with one
That was a close one for Joe Root it was a superb delivery from Siraj they kept pulling him forward with the length and then suddenly he pitched one fuller tad bit which Root did misjudge the length and tried to play on the backfoot a flick through the square leg and the ball since Root has this across moment when hit his pads at least to the naked eye looked like was crashing into the stumps but the on-field umpire decided it was not out and when India sent it upstairs the wickets hitting part came as umpire's call. Joe Root got away with one there, it looked pretty close, and Siraj had a long hard stare at Paul Rifle.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Water break
This has been England's hour. Both Ben Stokes and Joe Root have batted quite well. They have put out the fire and with all their experience they have stitched a nice partnership. Although there have been a few iffy moments, which is to be expected on a Day 4 pitch which is deteriorating quite well. We have seen Jadeja come into the attack, it might be time that India uses both their spinners in tandem from both ends because of the rough. Shubman Gill did take a tad bit too long in this innings to bring in his tweakers here this could have happened lot earlier.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Start for Stokes
Ben Stokes has gotten himself a start here. He did in the first innings as well, but in this innings, given the game situation, his runs are crucial for his side. Well, he has the reputation of being a clutch player, especially in this format of the game, and it is a clutch time for him to deliver the goods. 300 is the magic number England wants to get, and for that to happen, either Ben Stokes or Joe Root needs to score a ton here. The unevenness in the surface has gone down as expected, with the ball losing its shine and prominence in the seam. This is where India needed to have a plan, and sooner or later, they have to turn to tweakers.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Spin time?
It might be time for a bit of spin for India. Both ends have some footmarks, and the ball is old enough not for spinners can get something out of this surface. While there are a few oohs and aaahs when Bumrah is operating but India does need wickets to show for the appeals. This is probably the calmest 40 minutes since morning in this innings, where a wicket has not fallen; in fact, not much has happened. Bumrah bowled well. Root and Stokes are looking to survive and punish the bad balls. It does seem like a bit of a stalemate, and everyone is waiting to see what Bumrah can do here.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Bumrah comesback for spell
Jasprit Bumrah has come for a spell here. It is an important passage in the game. Both Ben Stokes and Joe Root have had their fair share of issues against Bumrah, but the Indian ace seamer is yet to pick a wicket today. Joe Root especially has found it hard when the ball comes in and straightens with the angle. Bumrah needs that help from slope to exploit that angle. However, the wicket is a bit on the slower side, which will give Root that fraction of an extra time to adjust, as per Stokes, it is the ball coming in from around the wicket that has done the damage.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: What is a good score?
India would be happy to chase anything around 250 here. The likes of Ben Stokes and Joe Root, on the other hand, will know that if they can take the score to 280-300 they will have the scales tilted in their favour. But for them to get there, one of these two in Root and Stokes needs to get a century right now, and as per India they need Mohammed Siraj to strike right away on this spell here. He has been a tad bit loose, Siraj spraying the ball here and there in this noon session, which has to stop. The discipline has to come and he needs to keep the ball at stump to stump line.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Siraj and Deep start session
Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep have opened the bowling here in the noon session. Akash Deep is getting some late swing of the pitch for a while now. More than his spell, it is Siraj's that is going to be crucial. Siraj has been able to make the most of some uneven bounce from the end he is operating, which made him look unplayable at times. But this session with the ball getting a tad bit older, will he able to extract the same level of output we have to wait and see. Whatever maybe the case the England batters are looking a bit unassured at this point in time at the crease.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Welcome back!
We are back to the afternoon session. This will give us a rough idea of where this Test match will head. It is not often it is the case, but India has the upper hand if England don't play this one with caution; they might fall behind in this series quite quickly.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Day 3 report by Sandeep Dwivedi
Had it not been for his helmet grill, Nitish Kumar Reddy would have gotten a bloodied face courtesy a wicked Ben Stokes bouncer. Shoaib Bashir had to retire to the dressing room when a Ravindra Jadeja straight drive smashed his little finger. Jofra Archer would constantly aim his nasty 150 kph bouncers at the batsmen’s head and on his follow through give a mean stare. And then there was Jadeja twirling his bat like a swordsman, showing the rivals the dexterity of his wrist and the sharpness of his blade.
It was a battle out there at Lord’s on the third day, with the series tied at 1-1 and nothing separating the teams in the third Test. India, like England, finished their innings on 387. There was no lead, no deficit. Before stumps, England had to play just one over and they finished 2/0. This was to be the moving day; it ended up as a day when the teams constantly had a go at each other to inch ahead in the game. None succeeded.

IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: KL Rahul on 100 chase
“Not ideal,” KL Rahul said. “There was a conversation a couple of overs before that. I told him (Pant) that I will get my hundred if possible before lunch. And with Bashir bowling that last over before lunch I thought there’s a good chance for me to get it, but, yeah, unfortunately I hit straight to the fielder.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Trott on Shubman Gill
"We don’t know what went on when England were fielding, whether they were dishing it out. But I don’t like the acting from Shubman Gill, as a captain you set the tone. Pointing fingers and getting very confrontational , very much like a previous captain before getting in the face of the opposition. I am all for being competitive and being tough on the field, sometimes you have to rise above it. It sets up nicely for tomorrow’s play." Jonathan Trott.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Joe Root and Ben Stokes unbeaten at Lunch, ENG 98/4 vs IND at Lord's
That is Lunch, and England will be relieved it is. Wickets just kept falling at regular intervals, and it is the uneven bounce that seems to have gotten into their heads. It is a bit of them tasting their own medicine here, they have to decide what a good score is and post that. They have the problem of the pitch, which they have to deal with, and also they have lost four early wickets already in this game. Given the pace things are going, unless something dramatic happens, they will be bundled out today, but they need to have a plan at least on how they want to go about things and role definition of batters on who will do what. We will be right back after the break do join us.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Brisk pace
The game is going at a very brisk pace here. India is chipping away at wickets quite quickly. A couple more wickets, India will be into the tail of English batting. Once again, England's techniques as batters kind of need to be questioned here.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Brook counterpunches and falls
There is a momentum shift here. Harry Brook has decided to counterpunch and is taking a few more chances. With two right-handers in the middle, it might be time to see what Jadeja can do on this wicket. Although Bumrah too might come back for a couple but Jadeja's bowling will be interesting on this one. Will there be turn There was a rough outside left-hander's off-stump, and Jadeja might look to dart a few in down the right-hander's leg-stump and see what the ball does. As we update, Akash Deep has picked up Harry Brook here. The batter tried to play ramp and missed the ball.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Stump to stump
India has two pacers operating at the moment who are good at hitting the stumps consistently, and when there is uneven bounce is the most important thing for the seamers to keep hitting the stumps. More than Harry Brook, Joe Root has the tendency to play ball through the third man with his dabs, and also has the tendency to play delicate dabs through point on this wicket, which might cause him a bit of problem, especially against Nitish Kumar who might be the guy who picks Root this innings. Akash Deep also does the same, but the unevenness of bounce is not as prominent from his end.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Chipping away
This is good from India, they are chipping away with the wickets, 90 minutes into the day, they have already picked up three top-order batters, exposing both Brook and Root to the new ball while the pitch is misbehaving. This is not at all an easy passage of play for both the English batters, especially against Nitish this can get quite tricky; he is not as quick as others, but because of the unevenness in the bounce and his ability to bowl line and length, he is becoming hard to deal with. With the keeper coming up to the stumps, what that does now is it does not allow the batters to walk out of the crease to negate the moment he creates.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: NKR strikes
Nitish Kumar Reddy strikes for India. It was a nothing drive from Crawley; he drove on the up, and the ball took the nick and carried to Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully. He got a start did Crawley today, and as soon as Nitish came in after the spell of Bumrah and Siraj, his eyes lit up and concentration lapsed, and in the end, he played a shot when in poor rut form is enough to get him dropped him for the Test side for a while. Will it happen? We have to wait and see. Harry Brook has walked into the middle, and things are going quite fast forward mode today.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Water break
This has been India's hour although England have managed to put on some runs on the board and India has to bat last on this wicket this is the innings where batting is the most trickiest on a Test match when target needs to be set up while wicket is doing enough that puts the question in the mind of England players how much score is enough. As of now, it does seem like anything around 250 will be quite tricky on this wicket, but England has to get there, and it is not easy. A lot will depend on Gill and his captaincy and how he opts to rotate his seamers and the ends he will deploy them from.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Siraj gets Pope
This is fabalous bowling from Siraj it is another wicket for him and it is Ollie Pope this time the ball jagged back in but held its line due to the slope from the end Siraj is operating Pope does have this tendency early on his innings where he tends to leave a bit of gap between bat and pad and the ball hit his pad and although it was not given out on the field it did look pretty plumb and was sent upstairs and there were three reds on the ball-tracking. England has lost the second wicket. The end is perfect for Siraj; the only question is how many overs will Shubman Gill give to Siraj when the ball is new.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Ball is doing too much
The ball is doing way too much here. This is a very crucial passage of this game. The ball is hard and the seam is prominent, hence the bounce might be exaggerated, but once the seam gets softer and the ball loses its shine, will it behave the same way is something we have to wait and see. Also, it might not be a bad ploy for Gill to bring in Akash Deep into the attack when the ball is doing as much as it is doing now because once that seam gets flat, Deep might not extract a lot out of the surface. We have seen a tendency from Gill in the couple of Tests to bring the bowlers into attack a tad bit slowly, apart from his strike bowlers.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Bounce off length
The ball is flying all over here, which was expected from yesterday. These are the kind of conditions which make the Indian bowlers, more than Bumrah, Siraj doubly dangerous. There was a game in South Africa in January 2023 where Siraj had to bowl on a similar surface were the ball started to take off from length and he ran through the opposite side with eight wickets when he started to peg away in that region and we might see a similar kind of thing happen today. Already, there are quite a few deliveries that are going all over the place and batters are unable to pick the bounce.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Siraj removes Duckett
Siraj continues. A couple of dots to start the over. FOUR! Audacious from Duckett. He moves across, uses the express pace and scoops it behind, over keeper Jurel for a boundary. OUT! Siraj has the last laugh against Duckett and he is pumped up. He gets into the face of Duckett and a huge scream of "C'mon" follows. Big wicket for India. Ollie Pope comes in at number three.
ENG 22/1 in 6 overs
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Bumrah troubles Crawley
Bumrah again. Duckett is keeping himself busy with ones and twos. He uses width outside offstumps and gets a couple after steering it to the backward point. A single to follow as Crawley moves to the strike again. FOUR! Crawley is not in full control, looks to drive but a thick edge went past a diving Nitish Kumar Reddy at gully. This led Gill to station one more fielder a bit wide this time. Bumrah still is troubling Crawley with his inswingers.
ENG 18/0 in 5 overs
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Close call!
Siraj continues from the pavilion end. Duckett drives one towards the right of point to start the over with a single. Crawley on strike. He defends four deliveries before Siraj's nip-backer hits him on the pads. Siraj convinces skipper Gill to use a DRS, but India wastes their first review as the ball was missing the stumps, dragging down the leg by just a few centimetres. Unlucky Siraj.
ENG 11/0 in 4 overs
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Fiery start from Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah from his preferred Nursery end. Starts over the wicket against left-hander Duckett. After bowling one outside off, Bumrah keeps the next one on leg and a flick from Duckett at fine leg gives him a single off the second ball of the over. Zak Crawley gets into the strike. So, it's Bumrah vs Crawley for the first time today. Bumrah keeps it in the middle, and the added bounce on the ball might have hit Crawley's gloves as he defends the ball. OUCH! This might have hurt Crawley as he throws his hand and bat to defend the last ball, has hit him brutall,y and Bumrah dives on his right to take the catch but it's a tough one. Oh, this is good start from the World No. 1 Test bowler.
ENG 10/0 in 3 overs
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Siraj starts
Siraj starts poorly, drags one down the leg from across and gives four freebies to England to start the day. Duckett gets off the mark as they run three. Crawley plays out four dots to end the first over of the day.
ENG 9/0 in 2 overs
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: All set
All set for the live action. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett at the middle. Siraj with the one-over old ball from the pavilion end.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: ‘Not ideal’: KL Rahul admits ‘hundred chase’ cost Rishabh Pant wicket before lunch at Lord’s
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: ‘Zak Crawley will be assessed overnight for hand injury’ – Tim Southee
England’s coaching consultant Tim Southee told the press, “Zak will be assessed overnight…” which nicely raised anticipation for Day 4. While it might all seem as part of the Act, the cryptic deadpan-faced explanation had a bit of intrigue because of that last ball. “After the final ball of the over whistled past Crawley’s outside edge – it was an absolute jaffa from Bumrah – the opener was immediately off, presumably to get further treatment…” Sky Sports wrote in its report. That overnight assessment, though sounding in-script, might even have a grain of truth if that last ball impact is anything to go by.
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Day 3 Report | Lord’s Test a one-innings shootout after day of blood, bruises and a heated exchange; Jadeja shines with gritty knock

IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: ‘Don’t like the acting from Shubman Gill’ – Jonathan Trott criticises Indian captain
IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 4 Live Updates: Lord’s last-over drama showed Shubman Gill is more than just the charming heir-apparent, that he has a little of Virat Kohli in him
The final over on Day 3 at Lord’s was a teaser of the fireworks expected in the last two days of this hard-fought neck-and-neck Test. The exact mid-point of this 5-match Test series could well have been the trailer suggesting the tone and tenor of Shubman Gill’s captaincy and the collective behavior of the team under him.
At the start of the tour, the English media saw Shubman as a ‘laidback’ cricketer who, during his stint at Glamorgan three years back, once forgot the keys of his new Volvo in the car. He was that charmingly forgetful prince and a batting genius. They were fans of his old-school technique and that dimpled smile of his.
Lord’s showed that, in the heat of the moment, he can also bare his fangs and dish out verbals too.
