After winning their first ever 50-over ICC World Cup at home, the Indian women’s cricket team will be back in action on home soil, albeit in the T20I format as they host Sri Lanka for a five-match T20I series.
The T20I series will be held from December 21 to December 30 and will be held in the cities of Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram. The first two games will be played in Visakhapatnam before the remaining three will be played in Thiruvananthapuram according to the schedule released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday.

The Indian women’s team was initially supposed to play a home series against Bangladesh during the period, but it was later deferred due to political tensions between the two countries. The Sri Lankans will be playing a T20I bilateral series in India for the first time since 2016, which the host had wrapped up by a 3-0 margin.
1st T20I – December 21 – Visakhapatnam
2nd T20I – December 23 – Visakhapatnam
3rd T20I – December 26 – Thiruvananthapuram
4th T20I – December 28 – Thiruvananthapuram
5th T20I – December 30 – Thiruvananthapuram
The T20I series will be a precursor to the Women’s Premier League in India which will be held from January 9 to February 5 in Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium and Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium. This means that the WPL will not clash with any major international cricket series for the first time since it is not being held in the regular window of
Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium — the venue of Women’s ODI World Cup final triumph last month — will start the WPL tournament and host the first leg of the WPL 2026.
Just 10 days after the WPL final, the women’s team will travel to Australia for an all-format tour Down Under encompassing three T20Is, three ODIs and a Test from February 15 to March 9.
