THE Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have assured that their Anti-Corruption & Security Unit (ACSU) will furnish an official report, before the start of the domestic season, regarding the corruption-attempt that was made by a Mumbai Ranji player prior to IPL 8.

In April, The Indian Express had reported that a Mumbai-based Rajasthan Royals cricketer had informed the BCCI’s anti-corruption team about being offered money by a Ranji teammate to follow a pre-decided pattern of play. But two months on, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) are yet to find out the identities of both persons involved in the attempted offence.

But it is learnt that the BCCI will ensure that the names are revealed following a proper investigation by the time the MCA selectors sit down to pick their teams.

“They have assured that the BCCI’s ACSU will pursue the case in earnest and will come out with a report in the coming months to ensure that everything is out in the open, and that the report is made official before the start of the domestic season (October),” said a source in the know.

On Sunday, MCA joint-secretary PV Shetty had lamented about the association being kept in the dark regarding the matter. “We’ve not got any information from the BCCI on this issue. No, we have not asked them. They must’ve either investigated the thing or are still pursuing it,” he had said.

The Royals player, who had reported the approach, had been lauded for declining the offer and then approaching the ACSU with a complaint. It had been learnt that the player had initially thought that his teammate, with whom he’s shared the Mumbai dressing-room, was joking before realising the magnitude of the incident.
