After Asia Cup low, Virat Kohli ready for the grind in ICC World T20

India had won the inaugural edition of the Twenty20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa.

India’s Asia Cup performance under his captaincy was a disappointment but star batsman Virat Kohli said he was ready for the hard grind of the Twenty20 World Cup, which begins in Bangladesh on Sunday. (PHOTOS: Kohli in IE Power List 2014)

India failed to reach the finals of the Asia Cup earlier this month at the same venue as they lost two of their round-robin matches to eventual champions Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

India could only beat minnows Afghanistan and Bangladesh in the league stage but that was not good enough for them to advance to the finals.

The Indian team for the Twenty20 World Cup will leave for Bangladesh on Friday with their first match slated on March 21 against arch-rivals Pakistan at Mirpur.
