In an interview with Pakistani news channel Geo News Urdu, Shoaib Akhtar decided to vent his ire at the current crop of Pakistani players, including veterans Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq. (Full Coverage| Points table| Fixtures)
The Rawalpindi Express shared his doubts about the batting order as he questioned Misbah-ul-Haq’s decision to persist with out of form Younis Khan coming in at one down.
“He’s managing himself (Misbah-ul-Haq), not the whole team, he’s changed the entire middle order except himself, he’s getting his runs, he’s captaining himself. I’ve never seen such a coward captain in Pakistan’s history”, said an aggravated Akhtar about current Pakistan captain Misbah.
The criticism didnt stop there as he went after Younis Khan again.
“I would like to request Younis Khan to go himself and ask the team to let him go back home since the coach Waqar Younis seems to not want to drop him”, said a visibly upset Akhtar following the team’s 150 run loss to West Indies on Saturday.
Akhtar was also furious with Waqar Younis, questioning his ability as the coach of the side, “He’s become the coach for the third time now, what’s the difference, what is he going to do this time that he didn’t do in his first 2 attempts.”
