World Cup 2015: Mohammad Hafeez ruled out with an ankle injury

Left-handed opening batsman Nasir Jamshed will now take his place in the squad.

Pakistan opener Mohammad Hafeez  has been ruled out of the World Cup due to an ankle injury.

Hafeez injured his ankle just before the second ODI against New Zealand in Napier and was advised to take three weeks rest.

Left-handed opening batsman Nasir Jamshed will now replace him.

“Hafeez has been ruled out of the World Cup and will return home with the first available flight and in his place Nasir Jamshed has been summoned,” a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesperson told AFP.

The news came as a serious blow to Pakistan who are already without the services of Junaid Khan and Umar Gul.

Pakistan will play their first match against arch-rival India on Feb 15th in Adelaide.
